2-3 spicy Italian sausages, skinned and broken up
1 onion, sliced
2-4 cloves garlic, minced
15 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 bay leaf
basil to taste
1/4 lb. rotini
half & half, milk, sour cream, or something like that (optional)

It is best to brown the sausages first and then add them to the onion and garlic in a separate pan with olive oil, but I am frequently too lazy to do this. One way or another, sauté the meat, onions, and garlic, then add the tomatoes and spices. Simmer while you cook the pasta, and at the last minute, add a dollop of dairy. Stir the pasta into the sauce and serve.
