Huzzah for Birthdays!

As many of you know, yesterday was my birthday. It is the first birthday that I can remember where I celebrated with my friends instead of my family. Last year I was at Dinosaur, which doesn’t count. The year before I was having my wisdom teeth taken out (at home). The year before we were in England. The year before I was jet-lagged, having returned from France (to Duluth) the day before. The two years before that (freshman & sophomore years of college) I went straight home after classes ended. In high school I didn’t really do stuff with friends. So this was exciting for me. I dressed up and went out for TONS of sushi with a bunch of friends, and then we retired to Rachael and Chris’ apartment, where I force-fed everyone pomegranate cosmopolitans (Ina Garten’s recipe)—they were quite strong—and we played Apples to Apples. Chris and Rachael surprised me with an ice cream cake (I love you guys). I was totally awake and ready to keep going until 2 or 3 in the morning, but I guess everyone else had work or something in the morning, so we called it quits around midnight. Then today I slept in. Good birthday.
